Keep Judge Moore in Alabama

I wanna be a cowboy ….

Alabama elects a Senator to replace former Senator, now Attorney General, Jeff Sessions next week. The Republican candidate – having won the state’s primary is …

(former) Judge Roy Moore.

Yes, this one.

(Side note – what’s with the cowboy hat and vest? I can’t remember the last cattle drive in Alabama. But that may be on me ….)

Judge Moore has come under scrutiny for his predilection to date much younger women (aka “teenagers”) while serving as district attorney. His behavior ranged from creepy to arguably criminal; and there’s enough evidence for it that I see no need to include the term “allegedly” here. Hell, he got banned by the local mall for his behavior ….

And now Alabamians are in a bind. Many of them are going to hold their noses, or delude themselves into thinking the allegations are a conspiracy against the good judge, because … [drum roll] they can’t vote for a Democrat.

That, my friends, is just stupid.

Should have thought of that before you made Judge Moore your candidate.

Look, I can understand not wanting to vote for an individual whose positions differ from yours. By all accounts, the Democratic candidate – Doug Jones – is a good man. A decent human being. And he should have roughly zero chance (because Alabama) of getting elected to the Senate, because he is a Democrat with some liberal positions. Which you might disagree with.

But that’s not sufficient to justify a vote for Roy Moore.

if you espouse the logic that the worst Republcan is better than the best Democrat, then that’s what you’re going to get. The worst Republican.

Actions need to have consequences. If you put forward an execrable candidate for public office, that candidate should lose. Period. if you don’t like losing elections, then try nominating reasonable, competent candidates.
